Welcome to the

XIIIth Conference on Stochastic Models of Manufacturing and Service Operations

Escandille, Autrans, France, 26 June - 1 July 2022

We are happy to invite you to the 13th Conference on “Stochastic Models of Manufacturing and Service Operations” - SMMSO’2022. The Conference is organized by G-SCOP Laboratory and Grenoble INP-UGA, and will be held at the conference center “Escandille” in Autrans, near Grenoble, France, from June 26 to July 01, 2022.

History

SMMSO 2022 is the thirteenth in a row of successful conferences held every other year since 1997 in Europe. The conferences started in Greece (1997, 1999, 2001, 2003, and 2005) and moved to other countries (Netherlands, 2007, Italy, 2009, Turkey, 2011, and Germany, 2013) after returning to Greece in 2015, Italy in 2017 and in Germany in 2019. The conference names slightly varied from year to year before the name SMMSO was established in 2009, during the first Italian edition of the conference. In 2022, SMMSO moves into France for the first time with a rich program bridging research and practice in manufacturing and service operations. Scope

The aim of SMMSO 2022 is to present state-of-the art research results in the development and analysis of stochastic models for the design, management, and control of manufacturing and service system operations that are subject to unpredictable variations and disruptions. In particular, the role of modeling and advanced analytics for the analysis of manufacturing systems in the era of Industry 4.0, cyber-physical systems and sustainable development will be discussed in cooperation with industrial stakeholders and also with reference to the most recent research projects funded in this field. Typical topics covered in SMMSO 2022 include, but are not limited to:

Format

The format of SMMSO 2022 is identical to that of the previous SMMSO conferences:

Be careful, speaker attendance is mandatory.

This conference location is exceptionally well suited for taking an accompanying person with you. Grenoble is the capital of the Alpes and has been chosen in 2022 to represent the green capital of Europe. The city is surrounded by numerous hiking opportunities for families and experienced hikers in the Vercors, Chartreuse or Belledone mountains. The Vercors massif, where the conference takes place, is protected as a regional park (Parc Naturel Régional du Vercors in French), and has a rich history background. The Vercors mountains were used by the French Resistance during the Second World War as a natural geographic fort.

This format played a significant role to form a network of researchers specializing in stochastic modeling of manufacturing and service systems.
