THIRD AEGEAN INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON
"Design and Analysis of Manufacturing Systems"
May 19-22, 2001 - Tinos Island, Greece
The primary orientation of these series of conferences is the reporting of new research in the general area of mathematical modelling of Manufacturing Systems.
Manufacturing Systems are broadly interpreted to include not only the basic production system used in the manufacture of the product but the material and product flow lines and information systems from supplier to final customer including the final disposal or recycling of the product.
The scope of "design" as far as the conference is concerned, incorporates the overall conceptual design as well as the more detailed sub-system design.
"Analysis" covers not only understanding how the manufacturing system operates but also how it should be used to achieve desired operations management and top level company objectives.
The conference particularly welcomes papers related to the use of analytical and mathematical methods to industrial based projects.
Topics of interest include, but are not limited to, the following:
Analytical methods in the performance evaluation of manufacturing systems
Buffer allocation problems
Mathematical Inventory Modelling
Queueing applications in manufacturing systems
Reliability applications in manufacturing systems
Simulation applications in manufacturing
Analysis and Modelling of Supply Chains

The conference will be held in the town of Tinos on the island of Tinos, Greece. Tinos, the third largest in size island of Cyclades Islands covers an area of 196 sq.Km. and has approximately 7.900 inhabitants. The island of Virgin Mary as it is known to the locals is located southeast of Andros island and northwest of the isle of "Mykonos". It offers abundant natural beauty, a mild climate, fertile valleys, archaeological sites like the ruins of Poseidon's ( Neptune ) temple and magnificent churches, monasteries and museums.
